Professional footballer Paul Ince tussles for possession with Edgar Davids (right) and Franco Baresi during the derby against AC Milan at San Siro.
The Louis Vuitton bags were packed and Paul Ince was about to confirm what many had predicted: he couldn’t cut it in Italy.
That was this time last year. Now he is contemplating what no other British footballer has achieved by matching the scudetto to the two championship medals he won with Manchester United.
Ince still has his detractors but the mere fact that he is on course to outdo so many midfield maestros is evidence of his prowess as a player.
Should he do so then the assumption that he will return to the Premiership in the summer will not necessarily be fulfilled.
