Celtic Vs Rangers: Match Ratings

Gordon (8):

Lucky mother went to work for 2 minutes today, but it was the goalkeeping equivalent of George Costanza leaving the meeting after making his pumpkin joke. Would probably still have won if he had called in sick.

Lustig (7):

Early mistake led to a booking. This is the end, beautiful friend, the end. But it’s only the beginning of the end. He still has something to give Celtic and his experience was valuable in the second half.

Tierney (8):

Excellent block on Tavernier early on, but that was the extent of his defensive demands. Played as a pseudo winger and was unlucky a couple of his cutbacks were not converted. If a Man Utd scout was in the stand, Luke Shaw would be as well as shitting in Mourinho’s slippers and getting his agent on the phone.

Ajer (7):

A little unsure looking early on, but was never properly tested. Worked well bringing it out from the back.

Boyata (7):

Another mistake similar to his brain fart at Ibrox, but managed to recover this time. Was interesting to see on the replay that Brown was screaming at him to play it back to the goalie, but he instead tried to fanny about. Despite that opening madness he ruled the airwaves against an incompetent Rangers forward line. I think Boyata would be pretty sought after by a lowly EPL team that demands less than we do from the centre backs.

Brown (9):

Mere presence forced Docherty to kick the ball out the park in the first few minutes. Morelos bounced off him a couple of times and Brown looked like he was blissfully unaware of the challenge. He was the beginning of our spine of pivots today, along with Rogic and Dembele. When the ball was in our third, Brown was there to win it, control it and move it on. He i soften mocked by the fans of other SPFL teams, but it is quite clear that the Rangers midfielders are beaten by him before they leave the dressing room.

Ntcham (9):

Great cross for Dembele chance early on and exquisite through ball for Forrest in the middle of the second half. Had so much space that I don’t think anyone could hear him scream. Perhaps was a little too lackadaisical in good areas in the second half, especially when we were desperate for a humping. Terrific penalty after Dembele deemed the game was his French mate’s testimonial.

Rogic (10):

One of the best signings in recent Celtic history, definitely top 5 in the last 20 years. „If you want a man for the big occasion, you go to Tom Rogic.“ Not my words, Lynn, the words of Shakin‘ Andy Walker.

Forrest (7):

Hand in the Rogic goal and then missed a gilt-edged chance in the second half. A 7 based on the bar he set at the beginning of the season.

McGregor (9):

Floated around the Rangers half like a gorgeous butterfly and thoroughly deserved his goal. Best utility man since sliced bread.

Dembele (10):

Brilliant effort off the post early on and this was a clear signal to the Celtic fans that Dembers was very much in the mood. Manhandled the Rangers defence at times and gave a masterclass in how to play as a modern day centre forward. Great work for Rogic’s goal and won a penalty. Cheeky bastard with his Panenka

Halliday (10):

Majestic from Halliday. Wasteful possession, aimless passes and needless fouls. A benchmark for all Scottish youngsters. Would have been a We Rate Dogs 13/10 if he had lasted more than 39 minutes. A Rangers supporter (this much be mentioned when Halliday is brought up).

Roberts (7)

Rangers looked terrified of him. Won a penalty and looked lively.

Sinclair (6)

Linked up fairly well with Tierney and McGregor. Probably didn’t benefit from the slower tempo that Celtic adopted when he came on.

Griffiths (10)

Wound up the zombies with heady keepy ups.
