Scouting for Bhoys | Celtic Transfer Targets: Switzerland

After recommendations from experts on the top-flights in USA, Austria and Belgium, it’s now the turn of Alex Robinson who identifies seven potential prospects for Celtic in the Swiss Super League.

Albian Ajeti

  • Position: Striker
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Basel
  • Born: 26.02.1997
  • Caps: 5
  • YouTube Video

Basel have been very poor this season but Ajeti has continued to score goals and now has 32 goals in 72 games for the club which have meant a promotion into the Swiss senior national team after 38 appearances at youth level. He can cope with the physical battle that would face him in Scotland and has now appeared for the Swiss national side. Positives for the Scottish League is he can cope with a physical battle but the question is whether he’d be too expensive.

Dimitri Oberlin

  • Position: Winger/Striker
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Basel
  • Born: 27.09.1997
  • Caps: 1
  • YouTube Video

Oberlin is also at Basel and have also a total of 38 appearances for the various Swiss nation youth teams. He has previously been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe but his development has stalled. He is one of the quickest players I have seen but his finishing is poor. He may not be up for the physical battle as much as Ajeti would and there has been questions around his attitude.

Nedim Bajrami

  • Position: Central Midfield
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Grasshoppers
  • Born: 28.02.1999
  • Youth Caps: 43
  • YouTube Video

Grasshopper is always a good club for young players. Nedim Bajrami is only 19 and already an excellent central midfielder, having been linked with a move to Serie A.

Aimery Pinga

  • Position: Striker / Winger
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Grasshoppers (on loan from Sion)
  • Born: 06.01.1998
  • Youth Caps: 3
  • YouTube Video

Aimery Pinga is another talented young striker/winger at Grasshoppers, currently on loan from Sion. He has good pace and physical attributes but would to me be slightly more of a risk compared to the other suggestions. (Editor’s Note: Pinga’s underlying numbers were so good last season that he also showed up in an scouting article by Modern Fitba)

Quentin Maceiras

  • Position: Right-back
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Sion
  • Born: 10.10.1995

Maceiras is very accomplished right back for Sion. He would be fairly cheap but it has never played outside of Switzerland so would be a risk in that regard.

Bastien Toma

  • Position: Central Midfield
  • Country: Switzerland
  • Club: Sion
  • Born: 24.06.1999
  • Youth Caps: 21
  • YouTube Video

Simon’s best player is 19-year-old central midfielder Bastien Toma. His passing ability is exceptional and he can play in defensive or advanced roles. He looks like a player that could adapt to any league or situation.

Anton Mityushkin

  • Position: Goalkeeper
  • Country: Russia
  • Club: Sion
  • Born: 08.02.1996
  • Youth Caps: 60
  • YouTube Video

Anton Mitryushkin is Sion’s goalkeeper and a huge talent, with 14 caps for Russia’s U-21 national team He has been out with a long term injury but I believe he will end up playing at a much higher level then in Switzerland.
